Weightlifting chains present an alternative for weight plates. Their functions are similar but working with chains is a bit different. When you squat down, the chains are partially lying on the ground. When you lift, their weight "increases" and you have to gradually apply more strength to finish the exercise. This makes your workout much more intense. Weightlifting chains are therefore suitable mainly for strength training and improving your functional strength. They are ideal for bench press or dead lifts but they are also useful when doing squats and in other types of training.
